Taking Naps and the Impact It has on Social Anxiety

Effects of post-exposure naps on exposure therapy for social anxiety. A brief exposure-based treatment for SAD significantly reduced self-report indices of social anxiety, but reductions were not enhanced by post-exposure naps. However, some secondary physiological indices of stress evoked by a social stressor decreased more in participants who napped suggesting potential beneficial effects of post-exposure naps on physiological responses to social stress.​
