15 Dog Breeds That Love to Sleep

Dog Breeds That Love To Sleep

Looking for that special buddy that will sleep in with you each morning? Or maybe one that likes long afternoon naps? Here are 15 breeds that seem to enjoy sleeping more than any other breeds.

#1 – Bulldog

Not much to say here, we all know these guys are lazy and love their naps. They might be the best choice for a snuggle buddy, as long as you don’t mind the snoring.

#2 – Shih Tzu

This little dog has no problem sleeping the afternoon away, anywhere.

#3 – Mastiff

Like many big breed dogs, the mastiff sleeps a lot. After all, they burn a lot of energy just walking to the backyard.

#4 – Basset Hound

The basset will sleep anywhere, with anyone. They even like “cat naps.”

#5 – French Bulldog

While Frenchies can be wild and crazy – full of energy when they first meet you – don’t let them fool you. They are the type of dog that eats breakfast and then goes back to bed.

#6 – Pekingese

A supreme lap dog, the Pekingese like to snuggle and sleep, no question. After all, they were originally carried around in the robes of the Chinese Imperials, what do you think they were doing in there? Playing poker?

#7 – Greyhound

At first, you may think, what? But actually it makes a lot of sense. Greyhounds are sprinters, not endurance runners. And after sprinting, they need to rebuild all that energy via a long nap.

#8 – Lhasa Apso

The Lhasa enjoys playing with you, but will quickly settle down for a nap fest on the couch afterward. Can’t find yours? Check your bed, he’s probably on it sleeping.

#9 –Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

This lap dog will sleep all day as long as you are near. They do require exercise, but will also give you plenty of opportunities for a nap.

#10 – Saint Bernard

Another big dog that loves to sleep. It’s good thing too, because no one would want a 180-pound Saint Bernard acting like a Border Collie in their house.

#11 – Chow Chow

Possibly the most “cat like” of the dog breeds, the Chow Chow is known for sleeping a lot. But, if you want a snuggler, don’t look here – for the most part, this breed likes to sleep alone.

#12 –Great Dane

Like the other big dogs on this list, it’s a good thing he likes to sleep a lot, otherwise your house may not be standing when you come home from work.

#13 –Cocker Spaniel

After a brisk walk, most Cocker Spaniels have no trouble setting in for a late morning, afternoon or evening nap – or all of the above.

#14 –Pug

Like the Frenchie, once the excitement of seeing you has worn off and he has received a few snacks, it’s nap time for the pug. He won’t mind that afternoon siesta one bit.

#15 –Great Pyrenees

This breed was bred to watch his flock graze, calmly and quietly, unless a predator happens upon them. No wonder they don’t mind napping so much. So expect yours to doze most of the day, unless something happens.
